Things that you know..that just ain't so..

"It's not the things you know for sure...its just the tings that you DO know, that jst aint so.." -Al Gore, An Inconvenient Truth

So, its largely surprisng to not that the most highly apocryphal nonsense,is something that most professors, and most students hold very dear to their heart. It makes me almost certain that almost everyone I know is living in complete denial. What's doubly difficult to acknowledge is the fact that there is scarcely enough brains in anyone, to presume that denial isn't the clock that makes them tick everyday. For example..Maglev trains aren't science fiction anymore..a Japanse company(I forget which) has built, tested and is producing them on a large enough scale now..

However, it's fundamental training that all profs and some sudents receive before they enter college. To deny that you are ever in the wrong.. and to ridicule anyone who might dare to presume that you are. For example, if you think that this blog is an utter load of steaming shit that any self respecting cow would be proud of...I would just proceed to cal you a sardonic loser..and really just sad. That's just it, in't it. When you know shit that you ABSOLUTELY KNOW..like for sure, and someone just bursts that little bubble that was there in your head...you suffer the worst sort of culture shock there is. You go into withdrawal. And all because someone told you that Coca Cola doesn't really cost 10 bucks to make...

BUt anyway..long story short, there are some rather obvious facts that you mightave never really known..
1)Formula 1 cars DON'T change their tyres after every 5-10 km. Do the math. THe average speed of an F1 car is 150 kmph. If it changed tyres every 5-10 km, it would have to do it EVERY 2 minutes...

2)Not convinced? Most tracks are 5 km long, and most races run for 50 laps. thats 250 km. WHich means you would need at least 1000 tyres per car per race!!!

3)THe fastest train now runs in China, and no, its not the TGV.WE don't live in the 80s anymore, my friend..

If you're reading this blog, wondering why the hell I should be stupid enough to list these facts for you, it's just to convince those people who know things for SURE(pakka pakka)..that just fuckin aint so...

  1. one of ur juniors , directed me to your blog - and ill be honest - this is the first post i read , though he went on and on about ur blog .

just one small question though - why is it so wrong to live in denial ? forgive me , for not wanting to live in reality - where it cheats me of all the pleasure possibly nything could afford .
finding neverland - peter pan - seems to be all about it :p

give it a try - exactly why facing the facts is so necessary all the time ?

and il tell u a fun fact bout coke - i used to love it , but all that pesticide nonsense ruined it for me - i still drink it , but once in a while i envisage dying of some sorta poisoning .

keep writing - its interesting what you talk about , though u do have a rather tedious style .

  2. @Photogenic devil, Denialism is the highest comfort that only elite can afford to live with.

The more one deny own moral and ideological failings, the more aggressive and prominent the physical expressions of our prejudices and hypocrisies become. As it leaves practically no space to the ground realities.

We have to grow up and take responsibility and can't always behave like Peter Pan. No god or miracle will uplift us from present suffering.

You can't always give people huges doses of escapism to avoid reality. Pain will eventually take them over. It will be good that you can check about the Russion revolution or minimum read book "Mother" by Maxim Gorki.

And denialism of reality have disasterous result.
We all know anecdote of "Let them eat cake" supposedly spoken by a French princess upon learning that the peasants had no bread...

That ignorance was born by denial of earlier generations.

  3. Biden, I liked this article for its clarity of thoughts. Denialism is either born by elites who can afford to live in glass palaces or extremists who never want to listen the opinion of others. Keep the good work.. and write more :)

  5. umm.. reading a book to find out more about how to not deny things ??

    bah !!
i appreciate ur very evident intellectualism - but , eventually growing up if a relative concept - peter pan was essentially good , and right down from plato , we have the notion of goodness being a direct contributary factor to a better life and then a better afterlife.

now , ofcourse you may choose to fight out the relation between a good happy life and a more self consumating , knowledgeable life -- but atleat , my humble , under read self still believes that everything need not be stomped on and libelled with a practical purpose.

  6. and I TALK about happy denialism , subjective denialism - not cruel callousness .

dont you think to be in denial of sumthing you actually have to have very very good knowledge of wat ur denying ???

if so be the case -denialism , and ignorance become va stly different things .

  7. @Photogenic Devil, I like your views on happy denialism or subjective denialism. But, we don't live in such isolation of Peter Pan.

No, we don't have to be knowledgble enough to be in mode of denial. Talk about America only, American people stereotype Indian as poverty strucked or IT specialist with the habit of watching masala movie, cricket and obsessetion with fair skin. But, it is not so. We are all diverese as can be...

Loving others is not denialism of facts but we have to accept that hate and envy are natural in human emotions. How could we understand ourselves without experiencing the emotions and facts. Ignorance is born because you deny that people with same aspirations and fears are living 10,000 miles away from you.

Mostly denialism comes from religious people who treats every religion equal while sub consciously believing in their supremacy. You are fairly learned person but this talk about happy denilism does not suit you.

When head is for evidence based reasoning, heart is for acceptance of all with all of their beliefs, not the denialism of reality.

  8. Your intentions may be of the world peace but the action is governed by the evident base approach....

That is why denialism of anything is wrong. We drop the hope of neverland because there are many children who does not know even name of Peter Pan due to poverty and hunger. And we have to work for them.

Sorry for recommonding you a good book. I don't know other way to observe reality in isolation and comfort zone of the life.

  9. oh my - must i be punished for knowing bout neverland now - must i be responsible for making the world a better place ?

maybe i am just a shallow spent human - but that would not be living in denial nymore now would it ?

    peace yayaveer :)
